Honey Comb

1/12 tsp.: how much honey one bee makes in its lifetime.

240: the number of trips required to make 1 tsp. of honey, with 750-1,000 flowers visited per trip.

2035: the year the world's population of honeybees will cease to exist if they continue to decline at the present rate.

100: the number of U.S. crops dependent on honeybees for pollination, which includes apples, almonds, avocados, blueberries, carrots...

It's easier for the bees to work with wax on the warmer side of the hive. Can you guess which side of this comb is on the east (i.e.: the rising sun warms it up first) side?
