Foxtail Lilies at the Denver Botanic Garden

Eremurus himalaicus and unidentified giant allium.
Ever since my Pastry Chef days at Sacre Bleu, whose flower arranger always used eremurus, I've been searching for a way to include it in the Backyard. But is this pairing too obvious? Will it get as boring as Salvia 'Mainacht' and Achillea 'Coronation Gold'? The girls are just loving it and, even more, the e. stenophyllus paired with yuccas, right by the main building at the DBG.

If you haven't been, or if it's been more than a year, I highly recommend a visit. Every garden is a constant work-in-progress and, though I always thought the DBG was a sad reflection of Denver, the garden's really hit it's stride. Except for the missing (temporarily, I hope) orchid room, the recent renovations have made it a real joy to visit again. The new parking structure across the street is, itself, worth the price of admission. Go now, before the summer heat and drought frizzles everything.

Oh, and Thanks, Mom for the Entertainment Book. BOGO coupon got us both in for $12.50!
