Around the time pollen stops coming in, the workers will stop feeding the drones. Then they will push the weakened drones out of the hive. Some colonies - particularly feral survivor stock - will tolerate the presence of drones later into the Winter season, but only if they have ample food. We're hoping our Queen mated with drones from Marty's survivor colony at DeLaney. The tree hive he rescued showed up at the farm at just the right time.
